Como las algas marinas est\u00e1n desapareciendo, los oc\u00e9anos est\u00e1n perdiendo vitalidad, quedando cubiertos de algas calc\u00e1reas blancas; y los ecosistemas marinos, incluyendo los bosques de manglares, est\u00e1n desapareciendo debido al imprudente desarrollo y la contaminaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Los miembros de ASEZ WAO en D\u00e1vao, Filipinas, se arremangaron y comenzaron a\u00a0revivir los bosques de manglares como parte del Proyecto <a href=\"\/es\/mothers-forest\/\">Bosque de la Madre<\/a>, cuyo objetivo es crear una Tierra verde mediante la plantaci\u00f3n de \u00e1rboles. Los bosques de manglares, h\u00e1bitat de diversas criaturas, tambi\u00e9n desempe\u00f1an un papel como sumidero natural de carbono y garantizan la seguridad de los residentes costeros y resuelven los problemas alimentarios. Plantaron manglares en los humedales que hab\u00edan quedado expuestos cuando el agua del mar retrocedi\u00f3. Excavaron barro con las manos y guantes de goma, y plantaron un total de 1000 manglares, sudando profusamente por m\u00e1s de dos horas. <\/p>\n<p>Jaquelyn A. Martinez, miembro de ASEZ WAO, manifest\u00f3: \u201cEl barro no me dejaba moverme f\u00e1cilmente, y a veces me ca\u00eda. Pero estaba feliz y me divert\u00eda poder ayudar a restaurar el medio ambiente terrestre a trav\u00e9s de mi peque\u00f1o esfuerzo. Estuvimos llenos de sonrisas durante toda la obra\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>El Departamento de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales de la ciudad de D\u00e1vao design\u00f3 el \u00e1rea donde ASEZ WAO plant\u00f3 manglares como Bosques de la Madre.
